Nicola | Café Restaurant

Frequented by writers, artists and politicians, Café Nicola is an essential reference point in central Lisbon. Founded in 1787 by the Italian Nicola Breteiro, the Botequim Nicola gained its final name in 1929 when it was installed in its current building in Rossio. It boasts an unmistakable façade designed by the architect Norte Junior, a statue of the poet Bocage sculpted by Marcelino de Almeida, and the oil paintings of Fernando Santos. Currently working as a café/restaurant, Nicola remains faithful to the spirit of social gatherings and literary creation that have made it a must visit place.
